LEARN & GROW

“THE LAST OF THE HUMAN FREEDOMS: TO CHOOSE ONE’S ATTITUDE IN ANY GIVEN SET OF CIRCUMSTANCES, TO CHOOSE ONE’S OWN WAY.” ~ VICTOR FRANKL

Here’s a little perspective during this global health pandemic: we can still choose to learn and grow vs live in debilitating fear.

May you frame your circumstances in a positive light and adapt. Stay hopeful and count your blessings.

Be safe and healthy.

BE VULNERABLE

“VULNERABILITY IS NOT WINNING OR LOSING; IT’S HAVING THE COURAGE TO SHOW UP AND BE SEEN WHEN WE HAVE NO CONTROL OVER THE OUTCOME.” ~ BRENE BROWN

On March 5, 2020 over 1,000 stakeholders gathered for the 4th Annual Homeless Initiative Conference.

The event closed with Tristen, an LA:RISE and Los Angeles LGBT Center program participant, who is continuing to hone her skills while working in a social enterprise and searching for full-time employment at a restaurant. Her advice for future LA:RISE participants is to turn your dreams into goals and then anything will become possible. YES!

I also very much appreciated the emphasis on the power of vulnerability as discussed on stage for people who are committed to serving people experiencing homelessness. It’s a courageous way to live to assure others are given the opportunity to be seen and heard.

It was an invigorating time presenting and attending the National Alliance to End Homelessness Conference on February 19-21, 2020 at the Oakland Marriott City Center.

Our workshop on the “Innovative Strategies to Increase Employment and Income for People Experiencing Homelessness” had a great discussion on cash aid, employment social enterprises and the value of jobs in addressing homelessness. Shout out to the thousands of people who do the good work on a daily basis to embrace and empower people experiencing homelessness.

ADAPT AND IMPROVISE

“WITH A LITTLE BIT OF IMAGINATION, ANYTHING IS POSSIBLE!” ~ MACGYVER

On January 23, 2020 we gathered at Goodwill Southern California and pondered together, “What Would MacGyver Do You?” (If He Were In My Shoes). The LA:RISE program hosts quarterly trainings/meetings with partners and we often like to kick-off the morning with a little fun!

MacGyver was a genius-level intellect and had a particular ability for adaptation and improvisation! In life, there are so many ways we can stay creative with our learning opportunities. What’s in your toolkit?

What a way to wrap up a year of abundance!

The Department of Labor – Employment & Training Administration chose LA:RISE to spotlight as an innovative approach to the design and delivery of employment services. The interview I filmed in September was posted on WorkforceGPS, primarily focused on city partnerships, since it’s from the U.S. Department of Labor, Employment and Training Administration (DOL). DOL was our first funding source for LA:RISE before we expanded the program county-wide.

It’s ultimately meant for Workforce professionals to look at our program as a model they can learn from/best practices and maybe even replicate nationwide. The video spotlights the LA:RISE program model and was posted on December 18, 2019 for the public workforce system nationwide to access.

The same day the video posted, I attended Engage LA at The Getty House, the official residence of the mayor of Los Angeles. The event had a festive gathering for 300+ and truly embraced the theme of the day, “Gift of Giving!” Mayor Eric Garcetti and First Lady Amy Elaine Wakeland gave brief remarks as carolers sang, greeting guests.

There was a section of vendors for holiday shoppers who could support social enterprises, women owned businesses or L.A. based businesses or nonprofits. Proceeds benefited Downtown Women’s Center, focused on ending women’s homelessness in greater Los Angeles through housing, wellness, employment, and advocacy. For gift giving, please consider supporting businesses that balance purpose and profit!

The10th Annual Circle of Change Leadership Conference was held on November 23, 2019. It was as always energizing! It’s wonderful to have professionals gather to talk about their area of expertise with a diverse group of student leaders from all across the country about the keys to personal, career, and leadership success. It’s even more rewarding to witness the passion and drive students convey about their dreams.

My panel this year was on “Leadership Meets Professionals Making A Social Impact.” Fellow panelists were from Bank of the West, Los Angeles Mayor’s Office, Warner Bros. Entertainment and The Walt Disney Company. I am grateful for this opportunity!

It’s important to remember how far one has come and what they can do to pave the path for others to also fulfill their career aspirations!

The Los Angeles Business Council hosted their annual Mayoral Housing, Transportation & Jobs Summit at UCLA on November 22, 2019.

It’s an educational and policy forum in Southern California aimed at addressing main issues around housing affordability, equitable economic development, and access to transportation. In November discussions were around how to leverage new market opportunities for growing small business, collaborative, statewide solutions to housing affordability and homelessness, as well as leveraging Los Angeles’ public transportation investments.

My knowledge expanded attending this summit and learned of a resource from McKinsey Global Institute that provided some solid facts and solutions on affordable housing in Los Angeles. Details in report https://mck.co/2QRdVdY

Agreed Mark Ridley-Thomas on your thoughts on homelessness, “I think we need to move beyond the rhetoric of thinking outside of the box and act like we have a crisis of consequence that confronts us, not only in Los Angeles but across the state.”

Southern California Leadership Network (SCLN) envisions a more dynamic, prosperous region and state led by informed, collaborative, inspired, diverse and capable leaders. SCLN is committed to inspiring, preparing and connecting leaders to drive change.

On October 11, 2019 I was fortunate enough to graduate from the SCLN Leadership L.A. fellowship right after our last excursion in Japantown. It was intriguing to learn about various social issues in L.A. and more importantly, the people committed to doing the work in the field. The experiential learning was a highlight indeed on top of meeting some brilliant minds from different sectors.

If you want to learn more about healthy communities, education, economic development, transportation & mobility, growth & sustainability, community safety, and arts & culture, consider being a fellow!

The Third Annual State of Women & Girls Address and Expo held on October 2, 2019 was a full house. The air was filled with excitement as accomplishments in gender equity and goals on the advancement of women and girls was announced at the JW Marriott Los Angeles L.A. Live.

While there is much to focus on, it’s also good to make note that women hold more than half of all City board and commissioner positions. Women lead City operations in areas ranging from information technology to transportation and government innovation. And by elevating the minimum wage to $15 an hour by 2020, L.A. has provided raises for 49.5 percent of its female workforce.

Let’s keep supporting gender equity in the workplace and in our community!

A PATHWAY FORWARD

buy cialis online

(If you or I get heart or lung problems with Cialis, and are concerned about the side effects, we might decide to stop taking it. Please call your treating physician and ask that you wait at least a week before you start a new medication. Otherwise you may have an extended period of side effects.) Why should I consider taking Tadalafil (Tadalafil) for erectile dysfunction? Tadalafil has proven to be effective in treating erectile dysfunction in men and is gaining popularity among users who feel the effects are too great. One interesting study published in 2005, which reported on the effectiveness of Tadalafil and found no difference between the effects on men and women, may explain why Tadalafil has become almost as popular as Viagra: The study found that the study participants had erections only after receiving oral Cialis and that they didn’t experience significant side effects, including nausea, headache; sexual feeling, erectile satisfaction; pain; swelling of the penis; and general weakness. However, the study wasn’t designed for a general population, and some participants reported having erections only after taking a placebo.

To find out more about how erectile dysfunction is improved by taking Cialis, please read our Cialis page, and go to our page on sexual side effects, which provides information on erectile dysfunction, erect ejaculation, erectile dysfunction after using other medications, sexual function problems, sexual side effects, and ways to treat erectile dysfunction. Cialis has been an effective therapy over a number of years. It has become extremely popular for both patients and the public alike, because of the fact that the medication is very effective compared with other ED pills. If you have an erection, it will be less painful and much less unpleasant after taking Cialis. It is often claimed that Tadalafil is so effective because it is available in less liquid form than many oral medications. The liquid form is much more convenient to take, which is why it is often more widely distributed in hospitals. Cialis is more effective than most other ED drugs, so it has also become quite popular for recreational use. And it doesn’t take an addict to know that Cialis is very different than other ED drugs!

(Cialis is the active ingredient in Tadalafil and Tylenol, two other EDs; they are not used by every user of In the UK, Tadalafil is sold in 1,000 generic pills without a prescription, or in 50,000 capsules. But if you are a UK resident you can pay as much as £25 to have Tadalafil shipped to your home. So if you are buying medicines in the UK and can’t afford to use a separate pharmacy, you can buy Tadalafil online and keep it in your own home. If you are thinking about starting to use a prescription pill to treat erectile dysfunction but are not sure if it is right for you, then you could consider an ED pill. This is the easiest way to know what your doctor will approve of. ED pills are highly controversial. Many consider the medications to only be effective in the short-term. Others recommend stopping all pills as you come down from ED (ED-related sexual dysfunction) and continue taking pills as your condition progresses. Still others believe ED pills can be harmful because they are often over-the-counter (OTC) and sometimes ineffective. However, the vast majority agree that ED pills work well for men who have been trying other medications and that the side effects are usually small. With the advent of Tadalafil, ED medications also feel like they are safer to use and more readily covered by health insurance if you are paying cash or have coverage through your employer. The benefits of treating erectile dysfunction with Tadalafil seem to be worth the many side effects experienced by individuals when taking ED medications, even when used with sex.<|endoftext|>In this week’s episode of The Gamecast, Kevin Kelly chats to writer Peter Milligan about his upcoming novel, The Book of Light, a supernatural mystery about a man and a woman that is simultaneously both a literary masterpiece and a work of speculative fiction.

Cialis is sold by prescription and has also been available online as well. Can the drug be mixed up? Yes. Women over 19 who are taking treatment for erectile dysfunction can take the generic version of Cialis. When do I need Cialis? If any of the following symptoms occur, the treatment should start again with the generic version of Cialis: A strong desire to have sex or to be aroused, for example, when lying in bed

You have a strong or unpleasant erection

You may forget to take the prescription medicine on your regular occasions A lack of sexual desire

Your erections stop working A lack of erection during sex

An erection lasting up to one hour or more

Tiredness or fatigue A lack of sexual interest in sex

Feeling of weakness or paralysis in your legs A desire to ejaculate at regular intervals, usually one or two times before sex You may also need buy cialis online when you experience mild or moderate erectile dysfunction. See the Drugs page for details. What are the side effects of Cialis? Side effects of Cialis include: Some side effects of Cialis are more common than others, but include: Nausea

Insomnia

Loss of appetite

Abdominal pain

Stiffness or tenderness in the vagina

Fatigue See the Drugs page for details. Are there any side effects to taking Cialis before sex? Cialis has no side effects when taken as prescribed. If you are already taking treatment for erectile dysfunction, you should not take the drug before sex.

Tadalafil and Cialis may interact If you take Cialis and/or tadalafil or if you take the generic version of Cialis, sometimes the interaction occurs and Cialis may affect your sex life. For example, when an elderly woman takes cialis, some of it may be released into the blood stream. The effect is minor and occurs It should be taken every four hours (or after waking up in the morning). If you cannot afford to buy Cialis Daily online or on a tablet the drug can still be purchased in pharmacy. Cialis is an extended release medication that is usually taken in the morning after breakfast when it is time for you to head out for work or school. Cialis should ideally be taken prior to intercourse in order to ensure that a strong response can be given to the pill’s action. How long does Cialis last? There is no good scientific evidence to suggest how long Cialis lasts. However, a lot of evidence supports that when taken with alcohol and/or caffeine and taken within hours of intercourse, Cialis can last up to three hours as you are unlikely to have drunk the whole bottle. If you were to take cialis daily and take alcohol or some of the prescription medications after or before intercourse, Cialis could last up to one hour. It is unlikely that this would be sustained if you drank your Cialis in the next hour or so. You would need to drink another two glasses of water in the next hour. What side effects can occur when taking Cialis? There is one side effect associated with taking Cialis daily that may be more than likely to occur after taking it twice per day. Cialis may increase blood pressure and may cause constriction inside the lower abdomen. Other side effects of taking Cialis include dizziness and headaches. Cialis can raise your blood pressure to the point that a pulse oximeter is needed to monitor the level. If you experience pain during sex, urination or any of a number of other sexual problems when taking Cialis daily, stop taking the medication immediately. Cialis can also cause increased bleeding which is very uncommon but can be uncomfortable for the partners involved. It is not known how many partners have reported having urinary incontinence because they realised there was no pain to be had with Viagra. Do not give Cialis to anyone under 18. Do not use Cialis if you have liver problems. Tadalafil is one of the products which provides the active formulation to Cialis and will not work if taken after Viagra. What are the side effects of Viagra? The only side effect to Cialis is reduced blood flow to the penis. It is unlikely the same side effect is available following Viagra alone if taken before intercourse.

“One of these mornings you’re gonna rise up singing! And you’ll spread your wings and you’ll take to the sky.” ~Ella Fitzgerald. These powerful lyrics permeated the air the morning of September 30, 2019 as Mission to Midnight played a soulful set to kick-off A Pathway Forward: Homeless to Hired Summit at the Center at Cathedral Plaza in downtown L.A.

Over 250 attendees learned about how a public-private partnership can help solve some of society’s biggest challenges with powerful speakers from various sectors and acknowledge programmatic lessons, as we evolve LA:RISE, an innovative employment program. It was truly a rewarding event to produce and witness people rise up for the call to action to continue to cross-collaborate for the greater good of our community.
